Gerard Dixon
About Gerard Dixon
Gerard, with his wife Colleen, has been involved in small business since 1979, starting originally with a small toy store in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. After having owned and operated five stores, and after a three month reflection during a caravan holiday around Australia, they decided the time was opportune to move into a different field. They then owned and operated two four star motels in Melbourne’s suburbs over the next 10 years.
Warmer climates became attractive so they moved to the Gold Coast in 2002 and ran the Beenleigh Yatala Motor Inn for six years.
Gerard has strong financial skills and a deep understanding of accommodation operations including restaurants, front desk, functions and conferences as well as all the back office duties. Having been a front line manager, he is well acquainted with dealing with people from all walks of life. He has a strong understanding of the demands placed on hospitality operators by clients, suppliers, government regulations and financial institutions.
Having bought and sold a number of businesses, he understands the needs of both buyer and seller, and has always been warmly received on returning to a business after it has been sold. He brings this aspect of buying and selling businesses to his responsibility as a business agent.
Businesses sold cover a wide range of properties including:
Motels – ‘Beenleigh Village Motel’, ‘Marlin Motel‘, Labrador, ‘Camden Motor Inn‘, Mermaid Beach, ‘Gold Coast Airport Motel‘, Bilinga, ‘Limassol Motel‘, Labrador, and Management Rights – ‘Swell Resort‘, Burleigh Heads, ‘Karana Palms‘, Chevron Island, ‘Carrara Park‘, Carrara, ‘Trickett Gardens‘, Surfers Paradise and ‘Silverton‘, Surfers Paradise.
