5 pubs for sale around the country right now

As the weather heats up Australians can be observed heading to their favourite watering holes.

Our love of iconic pubs – they do the vital service of providing meals for the family and the drinks on tap for the locals – is only matched by our desire to own one.

Here we raise a toast to some of the best Aussie pubs on the market right now.

The Kurrajong Hotel, NSW

In Kurrajong Heights, overlooking Sydney in the Blue Mountains region the Archibald Hotel has just come onto the market. The hotel is named after Archibald Bell who opened the way through to Mount Tomah, but despite its history it’s an impressively modern hotel. Popular with Sydneysiders travelling to the mountains, the Archibald has a large peaceful beer garden and a commercial kitchen serving restaurant quality food. How’s the serenity?

The Grand Hotel, QLD

Probably the only thing better than the location of this pub – it’s in the heart of the Cairns CBD opposition the road from the biggest shopping centre in Far North Queensland – is the crocodile-shaped bar, below. If that’s not enough, there are several restaurants, 19 rooms on the upper floor and three bottleshops.

Shipwrights Arms, TAS

For sale now in Battery Point, Hobart, is the adorable Shipwrights Arms Hotel which labels itself as ‘one of the friendliest pubs in town’. It is 170 years old so you can just imagine the amount of banter it’s seen in its time. It maintains an old-school pub vibe and has charming accommodation upstairs.

Penshurst Hotel, VIC

Pubs are often considered the beating hearts of country towns, and The Penshurst Hotel is the only pub in town. It was built in 1862, a two-storey bluestone building in the centre of town with a bottle shop attached. The pub has mountain views and could be a good opportunity for those seeking a tree change.
