ANU snaps up space while campus undergoes refurbishment
Australian National University has leased 1805 square metres of office space at 7-11 Barry Drive, Turner, in Canberra, on a three-year term at a gross annual rent of $685,900.
The ANU will use the space while its Union Court precinct is being redeveloped into a new retail and hospitality complex with student accommodation for 750 students.
Knight Frank’s Nicola Cooper brokered the deal for local investor Helkgo.
Canberra II
Franklin’s only bicycle shop, Cookies Cycles, has secured 130 square metres in retail space in the Aamira development after agreeing on a six-year lease with options.
At 109/227 Flemington Road, Franklin in Canberra, the property has rear access and two underground car spaces.
Burgess Rawson’s Guy Randell handled the lease, agreed on a net annual rent of $38,575.
Two for teeth
SGT Dental has opened a second outlet at the new Cloisters building in the Perth CBD after signing a 15-year lease for 120-square-metre commercial space on the mezzanine level of the 863 Hay Street property.
The gross annual rent on the lease is about $600 a square metre.
CBRE’s Lachlan Lewis negotiated the deal for a private landlord.
WA ramps up
Sofa specialist Plush has expanded to WA after parent company Fantastic Holdings secured a 930-square-metre showroom at 381 Scarborough Beach Road, Osborne Park.
The net annual rent on the five-year lease is $251,100.
Vend Property’s Jeff Klopper closed the deal.
Beautiful deal
Beauty salon Beautiful You Boutique has agreed terms on a new 65-square-metre ground floor shop at 4a/32 Aerodrome Road, Maroochydore, to use as its new business premises.
The business agreed on a three-year lease with options on a net annual rent of $22,050 through Ray White’s Emily Pendleton.
Meaty lease
Souvlaki GR is opening a second store at a newly leased 120-square-metre property at 78A Acland Street, St Kilda, in Melbourne.
The terms are 10 years on a net annual rent of $120,000.
The fitted-out property also has a liquor licence for 76 patrons.
Fitzroys agency executive Terence Yeh and Urban Food Collective’s Beau Seccull and Andrew Danson negotiated the deal for existing tenant Gami Chicken.
Old to new
Patent law firm Murray Trento & Associates has leased the ground floor 320-square-metre space of the historic Surrey Lodge building in Surrey Hills, in Melbourne, through Fitzroys’ Martin Huang and Peter Weatherby.
The lease term is four years with options at a net annual rent of $250 a square metre.
The recently refurbished 1888, 973-square-metre building at 613 Canterbury Road was previously the Surrey Family Hotel, known as “Surrey Lodge”.
The landlord is a local private investor.
Classrooms on Liverpool
Acepal Investments has secured education business, iCampus Group, for a five-year lease of a 250-square-metre office lease at Level 4, 78 Liverpool Street, in Sydney.
iCampus will pay a gross annual rent of $96,250 after relocating from sublease in Surry Hills.

Fermented space
Winemaking supply store Grapeworks has moved from Highett into a newly leased 2342-square-metre warehouse at Dingley Village, in Melbourne.
Grapeworks will lease 71-75 Redwood Drive for four years with options on a gross annual rent of $87 a square metre.
Colliers International’s James Stott managed the transaction for landlord Holyoake Industries.
Office upgrade
Sentius Digital has upgraded to an A-grade office after signing a five-year office lease at level 1, 5 Queens Road, Melbourne, with landlord Tong Eng Group.
The 351-square-metre property is fully fitted.
Colliers International’s Matt Cosgrave negotiated a net annual rent of $365 a square metre.
Bayside moves
Recruitment specialist Bayside Group will take over 1342 square metres on level three at 484 St Kilda Road, Melbourne, after agreeing to a 10-year lease.
The company is moving from a nearby building at Bowen Crescent, which is undergoing redevelopment.
Colliers International’s Matt Cosgrave, Vincent Tran and Lucy Martin acted for Kuehne Real Estate Melbourne.
The net annual rent is confidential but indicative rents are about $330 to $400 a square metre.
Goodman leases
Goodman Group has leased a 776-square-metre office at its Chifley Business Park property at 3 Joseph Avenue, Mentone in Melbourne, to Online Lead Management for five years.
The rent is confidential but indicative gross annual rents are in the mid-$220 a square metre.
Colliers International’s Travis Myerscough and Ash Dean marketed the property.
