Mount Beauty artesian water 'among purest in the world' could be your liquid gold

Nestled in the scenic Kiewa Valley, surrounded by the Victorian Alps, sits a stunning 10.12-hectare site – known as Plentiwater – a fully-licensed artesian water plant, awaiting its new owners.

All the hard work has already been done on the former farmland site between Bright and Falls Creek, with Mattern moving on after more than 30 years.

“It’s taken many years of hard work to obtain the necessary water permits and licenses, and then build the artesian water plant to a commercial standard,” he says.

“It is time for new owners to write the next chapter in Plentiwater’s story, not only as an outstanding private sanctuary, but to take the commercial water plant to its full potential as a source for a new Australian brand of mineral water.

“Considering the location, Plentiwater would also make an outstanding artesian spa destination or brewery.”

With more than 600 metres of East Kiewa River frontage, a tributary of the River Murray, some of the best trout fishing in the country is on your doorstep, without getting into a car, with a hidden swimming spot suitable for children nearby.

With its proximity to top tourism destinations and a host of regional wineries and breweries, the property lends itself to leisure and hospitality development visionaries seeking a foothold in the picturesque region.

Plentiwater – “a liqiud gold farm” – is fully equipped with automated bottling infrastructure and sealed road access, offering a plug-and-play opportunity for water production, private-label manufacturing, or brand development in the high-value bottled water segment.

The property has attracted a “lot of interest” since Balaclava-based agency For Sale By Owner Australia published the listing this week.

“Buyers are attracted to the stunning Alpine location and unique position protected by the Alpine National Park, with the peace of being at the end of a road,” says Mattern.

“The Kiewa Valley is among the most fertile and productive agricultural land in Victoria,” says Mattern.

With an artesian groundwater license of 93.6 megalitres and surface water rights from the East Kiewa River totalling 47 megalitres, the property boasts total water security – a rarity in today’s climate-conscious environment. 

The artesian source is protected by more than 100 metres of ancient bedrock and Alpine National Park, producing water of exceptional purity and natural mineral composition.

The artesian water is naturally mineralised, and boasts a nitrate level of less than 0.0005mg/L, making it “some of the most naturally pure waters on earth”, according to a post on Instagram.

The property lends itself to year-round adventure, with skiers enjoying the snow-capped mountains in winter, and nature lovers, mountain bikers, hikers and explorers taking charge in the warmer months.

“Mount Beauty Golf Course is directly across the road, there’s the nearby airport if you want to fly in or out, or go gliding or paragliding,” Mattern adds.
