Australia's giant warehouses that are bigger than hobby farms
There are sheds, and then there are these sheds.
While most warehouses cover quite a few square metres, there aren’t many larger than a football field, let alone bigger than a hobby farm.
Here are some of the biggest warehouses currently on the market, that will make your backyard shed look like a money box.
Ferntree Gully, Victoria
The “south-east super site” in Melbourne includes a warehouse, showroom and office, covering a total building space of 23,500 square metres.
The enormous parcel of land has three street frontages and is being offered as vacant possession.
Bayswater, Victoria
Formerly tenanted by a furniture wholesaler, this warehouse is fully sprinklered and has internal height of 9.2 metres, complete with recently replaced skylights.
Two streets border the allotment, which covers a total of 36,340 square metres and can be split into multiple tenancies.
The freehold title of 20 Holloway Drive, Bayswater is on the market now.
Royal Park, South Australia
Previously tenanted by a bus and truck repair business, the high-clearance shed features a large span spray booth, gantry crane facilities, as well as “ample” yard storage.
The site, which also includes an 860-square-metre office, is on the market for offers of more than $8 million.
Laverton North, Victoria
The vacant property includes a 18,995-square-metre warehouse with b-double access and a gantry crane, a 1880-square-metre office and significant car parking.
According to the listing, 2.2 hectares of the block can still be developed (subject to council approval).
Bell Bay, Tasmania
Not to be outdone by sites on the mainland, a 10-hectare lot with 1.5 hectares of warehouse floor area has hit the market in Tasmania.
The site is on a high-profile highway corner with direct access to Bell Bay port.
It’s zoned general industrial and has “identifiable development potential”, according to the listing.
Smithfield, NSW
The mega-shed covers 1.3 hectares of floor space and has seven roller doors and eight docks.
Internally the ceiling is 12 metres at its highest. Externally there is access to drive around the entire building.
