Australia's only organic golf course is back on the market

Australia’s only certified organic golf course, located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, has hit the market.

The Kabi Organic Golf Course and Orchard – about 20 minutes from Noosa – was developed by Billabong co-founder Rena Merchant.

The 126-hectare site, set across three lots and three titles at Cootharaba, includes an orchard, dam, a restaurant and events centre and an 18-hole golf course.

It has been closed for several years and had an asking price of $7 million when it was last for sale a few years ago.

Ray White Commercial Noosa and Sunshine Coast North is seeking expressions of interest for the landmark residence, which also includes an original timber home relocated from the Noosa River that has a bar and entertaining area, with views of the property and golf course.

Agent Louisa Blennerhassett said the property presented would-be buyers an opportunity to create an eco-tourism venture or a luxury home.

“The owner of this property had a vision to create the world’s first fully organic facility of this kind and has succeeded in bringing it to life,” she said.

“A change in circumstances has brought this property to the market for urgent sale.”

Joint selling agent Paul Butler said there had been three offers made on the property since it hit the market just last week.

He said he expected it would be snapped up soon after the expressions of interest campaign closed on July 6.

“The level of infrastructure of this property is phenomenal,” Mr Butler said.

“It has never been run to its full capacity. No expense has been spared in getting the property to its current standards.”

Other features of Kabi include irrigation infrastructure with pumps, dams and reticulation for the golf course, a packing shed, caretaker’s quarters, machinery workshop and wash-down area.

Some of the land has been reserved for the conservation of flora and fauna.

Kabi is maintained with accreditation via the Australian Certified Organic and Biological Farmers Association.

The property, at 48-59 Kabi Road and 501 Lake Flat Road, is 10 minutes from Boreen Point and Noosa Everglades, and 45 minutes to Sunshine Coast Airport.
