Brett Blundy resigns from Aventus, Accent

Financial Review Rich Lister Brett Blundy has stepped down from the boards of the $1 billion homemaker centre landlord he co-founded, Aventus, and footwear retailer Accent.

Mr Blundy, worth $2 billion according to the 2019 Financial Review Rich List, is the largest Aventus shareholder, with his 28.9 per cent stake worth more than $300 million.

“Brett has been a director since August 2017 and during his time on the board he has made an invaluable contribution to the business,” chairman Bruce Carter said.

“I am therefore pleased to confirm that Brett and the BBRC Group have agreed to continue their close association in an advisory capacity. We look forward to Brett’s continued energy and input as an adviser to the Aventus Group and to our continued access to the experience and expertise of the broader BBRC Group.”

Mr Blundy and co-founder Darren Holland floated the retail property trust in 2015.

Earlier this month Aventus instituted a range of cost-cutting measures in response to the COVID-19 downturn, with Mr Blundy waiving his director’s fees from April 1 until the end of June.

Mr Blundy has also resigned as a non-executive director at Accent, where his BBRC owns an 18.2 per cent stake, but will remain as an adviser to the retailer.
