Resort or private residence? The choice is yours with this Queensland property. Photo: Supplied

Resorts abound throughout Queensland’s tropical north, yet the chance to own a slice of this paradise does not come up often.

In what is described as a “once in a lifetime opportunity”, the former luxury resort, The Elandra Mission Beach, is being sold “as a potential residential oasis with room for the whole extended family”.

The Elandra, previously known as The Point, then later The Horizon, was refurbished in 2007 when bought by Katrina Knowles and husband Adam Karras for $9.25 million. Now it is primed for another lease on life, either as a luxury private residence, or as the listings says, a “lifestyle health retreat focusing on wellness, yoga, and meditation”. It could also lend itself to a complete redevelopment into a new resort or business enterprise, subject to council approval.

The star attraction of the resort is undoubtedly the stunning pool deck, with views over the Coral Sea towards Dunk Island, which is slated for a major restoration after being purchased by an international investment group in mid-2019.

Look hard beyond the sprawling towns and cities that dot Australia’s east coast, and you’ll find little seaside gems that are relatively untouched by development still do exist.

The tiny coastal town of Diamond Beach, with a population of just 886, on NSW’s Mid-North Coast, is one such gem that is home to a unique investment opportunity.

The Diamond Beach Resort is a 24,000-square-metre property with more than 160 metres of beach frontage. The existing resort features 15 self-contained apartments, three function rooms, a resort-style swimming pool and tennis and volleyball courts.

Natural attractions surround the location, with mountains, lakes, sand and surf being the biggest drawcard for guests and the property is only a short drive from the major regional centres of Forster and Taree.
