Former fire stations prove hot property in Australia this year
A former fire station in the Adelaide suburb of Salisbury has been listed for sale for the first time in its history.
Colliers International’s Paul Tierney and Jay Nash are marketing the former Salisbury Metropolitan Fire Station in an expressions-of-interest campaign on behalf of government agency Renewal SA.
Mr Nash said buyer interest in the property at 123 Frost Road had already been strong, with the industrially zoned site suited to a range of business uses, including knock-down and redevelopment opportunities.

“The unique property is ideally located within Adelaide’s tightly held northern industrial precinct,” Mr Nash said.
“The site offers convenient access to nearby major arterial roads including Main North Road, Salisbury Highway, Port Wakefield Road and the Northern Expressway.
“The popular precinct is home to many large occupiers including Coca-Cola Amatil, LION, Bickfords Australia, Border Express and RM Williams.”
According to Mr Nash, the 2631-square-metre property offers a secure site with large yard area and plenty of onsite parking.
The former Salisbury fire station is for sale by expressions of interest closing on Friday May 27, 2016 at 4pm local time at the offices of Renewal SA, Level 9, Riverside Centre, North Terrace, Adelaide, SA 5000.
It’s been a big year for former fire stations, with the Salisbury property listing following sales in NSW and Victoria.
A historical fire station in Windsor, NSW sold for $910,000 at auction in February, attracting seven bidders.

The new owners are currently considering the possible options for the building.
A former fire station in Telarah, NSW was sold for $200,000 at auction on May 7, with five registered bidders.
Listing agent Nick Christensen told CommercialRealEstate that the new owner planned to use the facility for storage.
A former fire station repurposed for retail use in Sale, Victoria, has also sold in recent months after being listed for sale at $190,000.
Colliers also achieved sales success with fire stations last year. Harry Bui, director of Sydney metro sales, sold two stations well above reserve.
In Cabramatta, 259 Cabramatta Road sold at auction for $2.1 million, 75 per cent above reserve according to Mr Bui, with 60 inquiries and 25 registered bidders.
And 3 William Street, Fairfield, sold at auction for $1.5 million, 25 per cent above reserve with 35 inquiries and 20 registered bidders.

“The purchaser was a private developer who bought the property with plans to retain the front heritage building for a commercial investment and redevelop the balance of the site for a mixed use development in the near future,” Mr Bui said at the time of the Fairfield sale.
