Hot snow-related businesses for those looking for a ski-change

The drop in temperatures means two things for Australia’s ski villages – the season is about to start and business is about to boom.

Many of us have holidayed on the slopes, looked around at the breathtaking snowy scenery and thought about packing it in and moving to the mountains.

But for those who want to make a ski-change a reality, here are some hot opportunities in cold parts of the country.

The opportunity to buy into the lodge lifestyle doesn’t come up that often, particularly in the buzzing NSW town of Jindabyne – located at the foothills of the Snowy Mountains and home to The Aalberg chalet.

The lodge provides 3.5 star accommodation and also offers a bar, pool table & Games Room, living room with a fireplace for maximum relaxation, commercial kitchen that could be geared to commercial restaurant trade, and function facilities.

The freehold title of the recently renovated lodge is on the market for $2,995,000

For those who think après skiing is more important than actually hitting the slopes, an afternoon travelling Victoria’s High Country Brewing Trail should be in order, starting at Blizzard’s Brewhouse. In the two years since it opened, the brewery has grown a following and won awards for its unique craft beers made with fresh water from the local alpine aquifers.

The Tap Room, where daily tastings are served, currently draws in over half of the business’s revenue while the rest comes from wholesale beer sales.

The Brewery has a 10-barrel, Premier Stainless Systems three-vessel brew plant and 7700 litres of cellar capacity with the space to expand.

The title to the business is for sale with an asking price of $682,000, including stock and assets.

The ‘Mountain Kitchen’ seats up to 60 people across 95 square metres, currently has a top rating on Tripadvisor, and a high-grade commercial kitchen.
