Queensland Rail takes large lease in Brisbane CBD
State rail operator Queensland Rail has taken up a new lease over 2000 square metres in office space in the Brisbane CBD after relocating into Makerston House from Brisbane Transit Centre.
The company has leased levels three and seven, the remaining office spaces in Makerston House, a 13-level office building at 30 Makerston Street.
The B-grade building is close to the courts precinct and Queen Street Mall.
It is understood the owner of the building, Challenger, struck a five-year lease with Queensland Rail at about $575 a square metre, or about $1.15 million a year.
The building has undergone an extensive refurbishment and has other government tenants.
It has a new building foyer, on-floor bathrooms and lift upgrades. Its floor plates range from 518 square metres to contiguous areas of 3000 square metres.
Commercial car park Secure Parking sits in its basement.
Colliers International’s Kyle Cully and Simon Petrie who marketed the property declined to comment.
