The Aussie pubs you can buy for the price of Sydney flat

Pubs are one of the hottest tickets of commercial real estate at the moment, with bidding wars leading them to go for tens of millions.

In Sydney there’s been the sale of a Five Dock pub for nearly $29 million, a $15 million sale in North Sydney  and Justin Hemmes’ latest pub purchase for $37 million in Mascot.

Yet there are still some bargains out there for less that $500,000 – though they may require a move away from the big smoke.

For sale for $135,000, the Railway Hotel in Boort, Victoria, could be the country’s cheapest pub. But it’s not just a pub – it also has a drive-through bottle shop. Boort is located next to Lake Boort, an hour’s drive from Echuca. The pub dates back to 1914 and the listing describes it as ‘a great first pub’.
