Located in the renowned Tooraweenah Bearbong district "sweet spot", Gundy provides the often sought, rarely found opportunity for the grazier seeking performance and ease of management in an affordable package.
Set in a private locale complete with an iconic Warrumbungle National Park backdrop, Gundy is both a productive asset and beautiful slice of the Tooraweenah district. There is something about the rolling hills, gentle slopes, creeks and shady groves that make it easy to understand why the previous owners held this country continuously for 102 years.
Gundy consists of 892 Ha or 2204 acres (approx) of red and black basalt soils with small areas of lighter grey clay loam soils. The majority could be described as typical Kurrajong and Apple Gum country with the species in abundance throughout a large part of the property.
Approximately three quarters of the grazing area benefits from improved pastures of clover (arrow leaf, sub and white), rye grass, premier digit grass, consul love grass and serradella.
The property is subdivided into 26 main paddocks with at least one dam each, some being spring fed. Several of the dams have been stocked with Yellow Belly, Catfish and Murray Cod.
Considerable soil conservation work has been completed with many dams benefiting from enlarged catchments. The natural topography has allowed this form of stock water to be very reliable even in extended dry periods.
A bore with three-phase electric submersible pump lifts and distributes water to the house area as well as a large tank located at a central high point midway through the property. This tank supplies several other smaller tanks located within paddocks on the western end of the property and acts as a reserve to support any chance of shortfall.
Recent history has seen Gundy running a cattle breeding and fattening enterprise however with some fine tuning to infrastructure the property is equally suited to sheep and wool production.
Improvements include a comfortable three bedroom home, steel cattle yards with vet crush (250 head capacity) and b-double access, hay, machinery and shearing sheds in addition to other outbuildings and grain storage sites.
