Favourable soil types, ranging from Podosols (free draining silts sands) to Ferrosols and Duplex soils (ranging from basalts, rounded gravel, with vein quartz, basalts and clay loams).
Mild spring and summer temperatures, with warm autumn days and cool nights, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly on the vine, resulting in maximum varietal flavour development and the retention of high natural acidity.
