Mount Doreen Station is one of the largest organic cattle stations in Central Australia and has been held in the same family since its establishment in 1932.
Comprising a total land area of 733,700 hectares (approx), Mount Doreen is the size of a small European country and occupies a significant stretch of the Tanami Road, 380 kilometres (approx) northwest of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
Mount Doreen carries well over 30,000 head in average rainfall years, with its long-term sustainable carrying capacity estimated at 22,000 to 23,000 Adult Equivalent.
The cattle on Mount Doreen are based on a Poll Hereford herd with Droughtmaster, Santa Gertrudis, and Angus influence. There are currently over 18,000 head of mixed age, branded cattle on Mount Doreen, however, the number of cleanskin cattle is also significant.
