    The operation was extremely successful and operated for some 97 years providing solid employment for residents of the surrounding villages of Kandos and Rylstone whilst also working closely with the coal mining and power generation.

    The Kandos plant supplied the concrete for the construction of many of the first major projects in Sydney including the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. The direct access to the rail network ensured the lower cost of transport and connectivity with Sydney and the Wollongong and Newcastle Ports.
