Heifer Station is the name of a vast cattle holding owned by the family of former Prime Minister Sir Earle Page since 1923 and also the name of the surrounding broad locality on the banks of the Clarence River about 50 kms north west of Grafton City, close to the equally famous Clarence River Gorge.
This 2110 Acre portion - known as 'Wares' - borders the more productive river acres of the Station and was acquired by Sir Earle in the name of his son, Dr Ivan Page just after World War Two. This multi-title 854 HA property is now offered for sale in one holding by RKE Page of Waterview as part of his retirement planning.
Drive from Grafton 50kms North West through the historic river village of Copmanhurst (28 kms from Grafton) on the Clarence Way and you will find a left hand turn taking you to Winegrove / Lilydale (Winegrove Rd is 39 kms from Grafton). Crossing the Clarence River there - a popular camping spot - you will then take a right hand turn onto Gorge Road which leads up to Heifer Station. 'Wares' has a frontage to this road and to Table Creek which runs into the Clarence and offers some lovely swimming holes. (For Sale signs have been placed near the start and end of the holding's frontage to Gorge Road, but current fencing is set within the true boundary).
Whilst there are many acres of picturesque country fronting the Gorge Road - and many suitable spots for the construction of a new dwelling (STCA) the western balance of the holding is hilly and remote - and stunningly beautiful. Access to it can be had via Grange Access Road which comes off Lilydale-Jackadgery Rd off the Gwydir Highway. This road leads to Chips Road which takes the traveler to the north-west corner of 'Wares' then on through the property down to Table Creek.
The property has been used for cattle grazing in its past but due to its rugged topography this has proven only marginally viable for the whole property. Income has been more recently derived from timber logging with the current owners harvesting selective amounts as recently as 2008 - 2011 when over 4500 cubic metres were harvested quite lucratively.
To the new owner, 'Wares' offers a remarkable opportunity at a lifestyle block with a land bank component for future timber income. A home constructed near the Gorge Road frontage would enjoy wonderful views out over the Station to the Clarence River below and would enjoy close proximity to the swimming holes on the creek and numerous acres suitable to run some livestock.
The annual rates are quite affordable considering the vast size of the holding.
This is your chance to own broad acres at a fraction of the usual price with the opportunity for home building, logging, livestock or potentially even subdivision in future (STCA).
A long form flyover video tour of the holding taken by drone photography is available showing its remarkable landscapes.
