PASTURES

SOILS
The property is highly productive comprising two parent types of granite and basalt with a clear distinction between these two soil zones. A rigorous liming program has been in place to improve nutrient availability, pasture production and persistence across the farm.
WATER
Water is a feature of the property with all paddocks having dams or creeks supplying excellent quality water year-round. Three creeks run through the property, the Nacki Creek, Sharps Creek and Dog Trap Creek; all considered permanent creeks effectively drought-proofing "Green Hills Station". Many of the 27* dams are spring-fed with several troughs in holding paddocks having water reticulated from 3 x 22,500-litre tanks filled from Sharps Creek.
The homestead has rainwater supplied from a new 110,000-litre lined corrugated tank. Garden water for the homestead is supplied from Sharps Creek with creek water as backup to both houses should it be required. The manager's house once known as Woraren Era has water supplied from poly rainwater tanks.
TIMBER
Timber is scattered across the property providing a park-like feel and provides adequate shade in all paddocks for livestock. The timber on "Green Hills Station" is predominantly Yellow and Red Box, Red Gum, with some Stringy Bark.
Several European species have been planted over the years with Elm trees dominating areas of the landscape providing excellent shade over summer for livestock.
FENCING
Fencing across the property is excellent and consists of all steel construction with steel strainers, stays and inline posts. Most fences consist of either 5 Iowa barb, 3 Iowa barb and plain wires or fabricated hinge joint material and barb.
Electric fencing is utilised across 50% of the property with 2 mains powered energiser units and several solar-powered units across water courses. An ongoing annual fencing program has been in place for the last 20 years.
