Te-Angie's grandeur is only surpassed by its proven productivity.
MacDougall Rural Property is pleased to present "Te-Angie", a property long held in high regard throughout the New England region of New South Wales.
The property has an area of 2,809* hectares (6,941 acres).
Located an hour northeast of Armidale and set at the top of the Clarence River Catchment, the property's grandeur is only surpassed by its proven productivity.
Already with a sound production base, "Te-Angie's" scale accommodates scope for an increase in productivity.
Location of Property and Nearby Services
By road, "Te-Angie" is located 50 kilometres east of Guyra, 33 km west of Ebor, 63 km northeast of Armidale and 145 km west of Coffs Harbour. This in turn is about midway between Sydney and Brisbane.
Armidale is the major commercial, education and cultural hub of New England. There are several public and private schools, the University of New England and a TAFE college.
Several beef cattle societies have their headquarters at Armidale.
The airport supports several commercial flights daily to Sydney and a daily service to Brisbane.
"Te-Angie" is ideally located to supply stock to the abattoirs and feedlots of northern New South Wales and southern Queensland.
Current Operations
In recent years, "Te-Angie" has been home to the Te-Angie Hereford cattle stud. Today, the focus is on commercial beef production.
"Te-Angie's" breeding enterprise is supported by nearby "Forest Lodge" (also for sale through MacDougall Rural Property), where progeny are backgrounded for the feeder cattle market.
A successful prime lamb enterprise has also been undertaken on "Te-Angie".
Lay of The Land
"Te-Angie" sits near the top of the Clarence River catchment, with elevation above sea level rising from about 1,000 metres in the north to 1,250 metres at the southern end.
The landscape is largely shaped by watercourses; creeks and gullies. These all run in a northerly direction.
Native timber species include yellow box, grey box, peppermint and stringybark. Approximately 590 ha of forested country is currently in agricultural use.
Pasture Management
"Te-Angie's" pastures generally comprise of improved species in the south and a more native-based mix in the north of the property. The improved areas have a sound history of fertiliser applications over the years.
Water Resources
Water security is proven at "Te-Angie".
In addition to strategically positioned dams, the property has frontage to Copes Creek, Fishington Creek and Dead Horse Creek.
A reliable reticulation system underpins this stock water supply. Pumps, header tanks and concrete troughs with concrete aprons are deployed throughout the property.
This water resource withstood the 2019 drought.
Rainfall
Northern New South Wales has a summer-dominant rainfall pattern. More locally, the eastern side of New England tends to have drier springs than autumns. The opposite tends to be the case "west of the highway".
Official records kept since 1885 show annual mean rainfall of 909 mm at Wongwibinda, 6 km from "Te-Angie".
