    As you walk up the red carpet to the front doors you already feel that you are stepping into the past. The doors open and you are welcomed by staff who are more than willing to tell tales of the history and past shenanigans of the old Grand Hotel. Customers that walk thought the doors of The Grand, Northam are simply friends we haven't met yet.

    FRONT BAR
    A picture of the old railway yards in the early 1930s, makes a startling first impression above the bar and takes you back to a period where the adjacent railway station was busy with travellers wearing hats and bonnets. The steam trains pulled carriages of travellers and was the major departure point for prospectors and miners heading east towards the Goldfields.

    As you enter the Grand with polished floor boards and log fires in the winter, the front bar is a popular place for couples to order a grazing plate and gaze into the flickering flames. On the mantlepieces and walls you will find a delightful mix of antique items. An old baker light phone, a 1950s parking meter and a pair of aged wooden doors that are found behind the bar when their thickness provided the only refrigeration possible.

    RESTAURANT
    Renovated to exposure the original brickwork the restaurant area has a chequered floor with numerous railway memorabilia. The bench seats from the railway carriage outside have been relocated to the restaurant and provide a comfortable alternative to traditional restaurant seating. The exposed wall has a display of old musical instruments, battered and bent with many stories to tell. The gentleman's bathroom showcases an innovative use for beer kegs which results in regular exclamations on existing of "you've got to see this" The restaurant also has its own bathrooms which enable the area to be booked privately with staff access directly to the kitchen.

    Moving through the bar into the hallway there is a stunning original lead light door with colours so vivid considering its age.
    There is a disabled bathroom here accessible from the bar which also is located nearby to the disabled car bay at the side of the venue.

    LOUNGE
    The lounge at the Grand Northam is nothing short of breathtaking.
    With reverse cycle air conditioning as well as 2 fireplaces this is the perfect space to relax on a weekend afternoon with friends.
    With 8 large lounges (including 6 chesterfield lounges and tub chairs) there is plenty of room for a game of scrabble or cards.

    The chandelier, so large it required windows to be removed for its arrival, can shine so brightly or equally dimmed depending on mood or season. Besides the large lounge there are 2 'nooks' that are equally comfortable and regularly booked as they are perfect space for just 2 or 4 guests secluded from other guests in the lounge.

    The lounge regularly hosts private events such as Murder Mystery Parties, High Teas, Art and Drawing Classes and Games Nights. There is also a retractable screen which can be lowered for luxurious viewing of the latest sports game or guest's slideshow.
    Outside the lounge at the bottom of the grand staircase there is the disabled unisex bathroom and another ladies bathroom. Conveniently located for both guests inside or out.

    DECK
    The windows of the lounge provide glimpses of the deck outside. Seating up to 50 guests this area protected from the elements can also be opened up on warmer days. It has a fully connected outdoor bar with beer taps and can be hired for special occasions. It looks out onto the garden and stage area which is so popular with families and groups sitting on large tables.
